The first Irish-Scottish folk music group in Hungary welcomes you, our name literally translated is the “Not Understood Musical Band”. This is a band with a distinct purpose, not an aim. The band was founded in 1988 and has since published several CDs and more than 2100 concerts serve as a testimony to the journey the band has made. Irish and Scottish traditional tunes, ballads and pub songs make up the repertoire, drawing on hundreds of years of folk music. Their music has specific Irish roots, therefore several songs from America have also been included in their concerts, after which a dance workshop can be held with the help of a knowledgeable dance instructor, if required, to accompany the audience’s spiritual revival.
Köszönti Önt az első magyarországi ír-skót népzenét játszó csapat a Meg nem Értett Zenekar. A zenekar melynek nem célja hanem dolga van. Az együttes 1988-ban alakult , több CD és több mint 2100 koncert tanúja a megtett útnak. Ír, skót tradicionális dallamok, balladák, kocsmadalok alkotják a repertoárt több száz év népzenei kincséből merítve. Az ír kirajzás miatt több Amerikából származó dal is elhangzik egy koncerten, mely után igény szerint értő tánctanár segítségével táncház is tartható, hogy a közönség lelki felfrissülését testi is kövesse.
Greenfields
Greenfields is one of the oldest Irish music bands in Hungary.
We play popular Irish pub songs, folk songs, and traditional Irish-Scottish dance music – along with other musical arrangements. We perform in basement clubs, pubs, balls, cultural events, festivals, and dancehalls. The members of the band have a very diverse musical background: from traditional Irish to original Hungarian folk musicians, universal folk guitarists, drummers from the world of Latin American music and historical musicians. The result is a fascinating musical creation that combines traditional Irish music with influences from many other musical cultures. Hungarian and Eastern European folk music elements feature prominently in our music. Our speciality is the fusion of Hungarian and Irish musical traditions – our band was the first in Hungary to achieve this in their music.
Our basic aim is to entertain the audience without aiming to create music for its own sake, or to create a museum style.
Our concerts can be complemented by dance instruction and Irish tap dance performances upon request.
A Greenfields együttes Magyarország egyik legrégebbi ír zenét játszó zenekara.
Elsősorban népszerű ír kocsmadalokat, népdalokat, valamint hagyományos ír-skót tánczenét játszunk – egyéb zenei feldolgozások mellett. Fellépünk pinceklubokban, pubokban, bálokon, kulturális rendezvényeken, fesztiválszínpadokon, táncházakban. A zenekar tagjainak nagyon változatos a zenei előélete: megtalálható közöttünk a tradicionális ír zenei stílus ismerője mellett eredetileg magyar népzenész, univerzális folk-gitáros, a latin-amerikai zene világából érkező dobos és historikus zenész is. Így egy izgalmas zenei világ keletkezik, mely a tradicionális ír zenét több más zenei világ hatásával együtt szólaltatja meg. Zenénkben kiemelkedő szerep jut a magyar és kelet-európai népzenei elemeknek. Különlegességünk éppen ez: a magyar és ír zenei hagyomány ötvözése – ebben Magyarországon az elsők voltunk. Mindezekkel együtt alapvető célunk a közönség szórakoztatása, nem törekszünk sem öncélú zenei alkotásra, sem múzeumi stílus kialakítására. Koncertjeink igény szerint tánctanítással és ír szteptánbemutatóval is kiegészíthetőek.
