Bells over Belfast

The Irish Rovers is a Canadian-based band that plays Irish folk music with elements of country and rock. During their long career, they have recorded more than 30 records since 1967. Their first holiday album ’Song of Christmas’ was released in 1999.

The opener, ‘Bells over Belfast’, is a well-known festive number of the band’s repertoire, a concert classic around Christmastime. Despite its folky arrangement, this blissful track is not a traditional song. It was written by the group members, who wanted to capture everything connected with Belfast at Christmas; peace, acceptance, love and of course, happiness!
